Abstract: 

The project focuses on the analysis of political manipulation in the media and disinformation associated with the Russian information infrastructure during the period of the pan-European elections from 2024 to 2026. Particular attention is devoted to traditional digital media, social networks, and messaging applications, with a specific focus on activities conducted through Telegram channels and on self-styled journalists and political influencers who promote the radicalization and polarization of opinions within these communities.

Russian disinformation campaigns are examined as part of a coordinated system of state-orchestrated and state-funded information attacks. The project also analyzes the historical and political contexts underlying the development of disinformation as an instrument of geopolitical pressure employed by the Russian government, drawing upon the legacy of Soviet political culture.
